Issue 249, October 6, 2024

October is a month beloved by many, bringing cooler weather, fall colors, and anticipation for the holidays ahead. This year, my wife Leigh and I had planned to enjoy these seasonal pleasures in the mountains of Sylva, North Carolina. However, due to recent devastation in the area, our plans are currently up in the air. We’ve been unable to reach our hosts, which feels a bit ominous. While we’d love to go and even bring supplies to support the community, we’re mindful that our presence could be more of a hindrance than a help. Instead, we’ve decided to lend a hand from afar by donating to one of our favorite charities, Convoy of Hope, which provides essential support in times of crisis.

On another note, as we keep an eye on the weather, it looks like Jacksonville might feel the effects of Hurricane Milton, which is expected to impact the area on Wednesday. If we’re still able to gather, it’ll be a reminder of our community’s resilience and good fortune in the face of these storms. Stay safe, and I hope to see you all Wednesday!
