| “Hollywood Has the Oscars, Southside Businessmen’s Club has the Southie.”
Wednesday night, we celebrated our 81st President, Michael Best, in an evening event that saw over 65 people in attendance. We took time to award 30 “Southies” to deserving volunteers, officers, chairs, and co-chairs for their hard work and dedication to the club throughout the past year. Value was the theme of the night, and it kicked off with our new venue; the move did not disappoint those in attendance! From Caesar Salad, Anti-Pasta Salad to Stuffed Mushrooms, Bruschetta, Chicken Marsala, Salmon in an incredible lemon sauce to Ziti and Cheese Ravioli! All topped off with Chocolate Cake and New York Style Cheesecake with Strawberries and coffee! It’s safe to say that nobody left hungry! But many went away with a doggie bag to enjoy later! Our Club, since its founding days was built upon these principles: to promote the Civic, Economic and Social Improvement of Greater Jacksonville. In 2025, we will focus on returning to the very roots our club was founded upon. First, we value you, our members, and understand why you initially joined our great club. We are here to help you network with other like-minded business owners and to grow your business. We know that a strong economy is good for not only your business, but also the people who live and work in our great city. As we know, when we all pitch in to volunteer and help improve the city that we hold so dear, it not only makes us feel a sense of accomplishment but also sets an example to others. We also understand that people tend to do business with people they like. With this knowledge, this year we will be organizing several events for our members and friends to get together in a fun, social setting. These events will be an excellent opportunity to meet and get to know members you may not otherwise cross paths with. If ice-skating is your thing (or just watching people fall down while enjoying a drink) then come join us at the Igloo on February 6th. Or perhaps you enjoy a great date night with your special someone: join us for our Alhambra Dinner Theatre outing! Stay tuned for many more fun networking events! Soon to come, we will be announcing the start of a bowling league, trivia nights, bingo nights, and an extra special cruise on the Norwegian Cruise Line!
